So when graphic design consultant Rubi Velasquez came to us with a deadline constrained job in another city, we knew just how to guide her in the right direction.
Recently, a client of Rubi Design Studio, was traveling from their home base in Dallas, Texas to Atlanta, Georgia for an upcoming convention. Once there, the client realized they needed one of Velasquez’ designs printed in large format for the following day’s event. “Instead of calling printers all over Atlanta, I contacted Kevin Howes of the Reprographic Services Association and asked who he knew.” Our Executive Director, contacted Atlanta based RSA Member Bob Feldberg of Repro Products/The Color Spot late in the evening on the Friday before the job was due. Bob immediately coordinated the request with son Michael of The Color Spot and they were able to produce the job first thing Monday morning in time for the client’s convention. Velasquez remembers being very impressed with how quickly they were able to get production going.

Celebrating with our partners in their achievements is a special experience and great value for the RSA. We were honored when KIP decided to share their success in manufacturing the company’s 40,000th 7170 Engineering Printer during our Spring 2019 conference. At our meeting , VP of Sales, Tim Horn, held an exclusive introductory session for the RSA to announce their new KIP 650 Multi-touch Color Print System. Members attending this session were not only rewarded with being the first in the industry to hear about the 650 but were also enrolled in a chance to win the 40,000th 7170 Engineering Printer.
When John DiCarlo, President of DiCarlo Precision Instrument Inc., first heard of the drawing it was from Horn, himself. As DiCarlo had missed the sign-up during the KIP reception, Horn offered his phone for an online form to be filled out and enter into the drawing. “I submitted my entry and never gave it another thought.” DiCarlo said he went on with the conference thinking he had no chance. During a break in the RSA University education sessions the following day, a digital raffling system was projected on screen to select the winning RSA member company. While names were spinning around, DiCarlo remembers leaning over to an RSA member friend and saying, “that’s really cool.” as the barrel continued to roll. When the barrel stopped and member company DiCarlo Precision Instrument was displayed on the screen, he remembers his shock as that friend said “That’s you!”
Excited, and of course honored, to have won the 7170 printer, a BBQ was held at DiCarlo Precision offices in Salisbury, Maryland to celebrate and welcome their new unit. What they thought would be an ordinary truck delivery was accentuated by a personal visit from Horn, to deliver the unit. Tim flew all the way from Michigan to personally deliver and congratulate the DiCarlo team. The printer was arrived at DiCarlo still wrapped in the original red bow placed on it by the KIP factory in Japan, where they also celebrated the 40,000th unit. “KIP has been a great partner to us for many years, and to the RSA as well. We always have appreciated their kindness, the culture of their business, and the way they treat us. That’s how our company is, so we like how our companies mesh.” DiCarlo said as he praised Horn for his personal touch and genuine relationship with the company.
As Horn says, they are “excited and honored to be able to share with the RSA and to celebrate with DiCarlo Precision.” The RSA would like to congratulate DiCarlo on their win and KIP on their great accomplishment as well as thank KIP for their extraordinary generosity and long relationship with the RSA. The success they have seen through this milestone, and through the giveaway, makes us proud of our special partnership with KIP.
From selling blueprinting supplies out of a two-bedroom apartment to becoming metro Atlanta’s exclusive Xerox agency, RSA member Repro Products is now celebrating 40 years in the reprographic industry. Founded in 1979 by Robert Feldberg, this company is dedicated to its community, customers, and employees while being the leading provider of wide format technical and graphics equipment, printing, and reprographic services. The RSA is proud to count companies such as Repro Products, and sister company, The Color Spot as members because of the many ways they have served and impacted both the industry and their community around them.
RPI was honored by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce in 2005 as the Small Business of the Year and has received many accolades from the community for its philanthropic actions and contributions. The company also received the 2009 Business Community Service Recognition Award from the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and Georgia Trend magazine and was a 2013 Georgia Family Business of the Year Finalist, awarded by the Cox Family Enterprise Center. The Chamber was present during their 40th anniversary ribbon cutting ceremony on June 6th and is just another endorsement of the company’s belief that “many satisfied, repeat customers are an important part of the Repro Products story.”
When asking Brenda Hansen, marketing director of Repro Products, why she believes the company is special, she spoke to the fact that a week after their 40th anniversary, their longest tenured employee member, Ken Smith, celebrated 30 years on staff. Smith acts as Field Service Manager and is pictured below. Because of Bob’s commitment and loyalty to staff, many employees have worked with the company for 10 or more years. Hansen is no exception as she has worked for RPI for 13 years. As a continuing commitment to their employees, the Feldberg Family scholarship fund was established In 2016. This fund provides assistance in pursuit of higher education to employees/family members of Repro Products family of companies. This year, 3 members were awarded the scholarship by a selection committee comprised of employees, an independent volunteer board member, and an advisor from the Cobb Community Foundation.
Through the years, the company has grown significantly by adapting to industry change and offering new opportunities in products and services for their customers. Some of their success can be attributed to embracing new 3D laser scanning technology, drone aerial imaging services, and becoming a Xerox agency. In fact, Repro Products is proud to be the premier Atlanta Xerox Agent since 1989 by providing office & multi-function and production products, services, supplies and resources to metro Atlanta, Georgia. On May 21st and May 22nd, RSA member, R.S. Knapp Co. held their 2019 Global Technology Expo. This two day event was located at NAPCO’s Headquarters location just a few miles from New York City and showcased 3D Scanning, automated digital document management, color documents in the safe workplace and collaboration tools for great efficiency. Over 70 people from 40 separate companies and several traveling from out of state were in attendance. Key vendors presenting their technology solutions included Canon, Canon Solutions America (Oce), Epson, HP National Azon and Synnex Corporation.
Continuing industry education was also a cornerstone of this event. The 3D scanner manufacturers, Leica, offered four representatives to attend the event and assist in demonstrations. Fellow RSA member Repro Products was also in attendance to better explain software capabilities by taking files from the scanner to bring into design software.
Sales operations manager, Keith McHugh, noted the company found great success with this two-day event as attendees were able to learn more about new technologies serving the AEC industry. “Several clients operate with R.S. Knapp on one level, through one product or service. However, after the expo these same clients found that we can offer them a more integrated approach with their clients through our portfolio of technology solutions.” To learn more about R.S. The Young Professionals of the RSA are excited to announce their new partnership with Surge For Water, an organization founded in 2008 striving to provide clean water and sanitation to communities all over the world. In 11 years, they have impacted over 1,000,000 people in 11 countries through rehabilitation of wells, implementing customized UNICEF water, sanitation and hygiene; as well as their signature hygiene education programs. They are able to see influence in the noticeable improvement of health, income, sustainability, and over all well being, so the Young Professionals are very anxious to work along side Surge in their mission to invest safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions to help end the cycle of poverty.
With the support of Kevin Howes, Executive Director of the RSA, member Shelby Marshall encouraged the Young Professionals to have a positive impact through a partnership with Surge For Water and commit to donate $2,500, going towards repairing a well in Kaberamaido, Uganda. The Obale Well, located in the Omid Community of Kaberamaido, services 750 water users, 377 men and 418 females. 100% of every dollar donated will go towards funding this well, or the next most urgent need, and providing sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions to this community. By donating to repairs and the protection of this natural spring, we can help reduce water related illnesses, such as parasites, and ensure safe water to families to keep them from traveling long distances for alternative water sources.

When Alltech needed promotions for their conference, they turned to RSA member Monster Color to create their signage. The One: The Alltech Ideas Conference is an annual event that brings together producers and industry experts from around the world to share insights and solutions to today’s most pressing issues within the global agriculture industry. Promotions for the conference happen worldwide. Because of the constant traveling, and set up and take down of the stage, Alltech was looking for promotional print pieces that were lightweight, durable enough to last for multiple trade shows, and could be crated for shipment.
The Permanent Signage/ADA Division of Monster Color created a solution. Using fabricated signage, they made three letters, “O N E”, by stick welding aluminum and then by covering each side with aluminum to make the letters hollow. This allowed the letters to be more manageable and lightweight, while the aluminum gives strength and durability fulfilling Alltech’s needs. The letters stand at 4 ½ feet tall and 12 inches deep, allowing them to fit perfectly into custom crates designed by Monster Color for shipping and traveling conference to conference.

In 2017 6 year old Xavier Marconi was diagnosed with severe epilepsy oftentimes experiencing up to 100 seizures a day, which requires brain surgery this coming Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Akron Children’s Hospital. As personal friends of Xavier’s parents Alex and Mandy, the kind and ever humble Mark Langdon and his wife Dawn saw an opportunity to turn this into a positive experience for young Xavier by arranging for Superman, Xavier’s favorite superhero, to visit him at home; as you can see from the video and photos this really made Xavier’s day!
Like in every Superman story, a bit of Kryptonite was preventing the Man of Steel from saving Xavier’s day in Akron because Mark’s Eastern Engineering graphics shop is located in Indianapolis. Undaunted by this challenge, Mark harnessed the power of the RSA by commissioning a Superman cut out to be created by another Superhero and fellow RSA member Kevin Anderson from S.E. Blue in Cleveland Ohio. Kevin and his sidekick Craig were more than happy to make Xavier’s dream of meeting Superman a reality, by printing the Superhero cut out in all of its glory and delivering Superman to Xavier at his home in Akron.
This is the real human power, value and benefit of the RSA. Xavier’s favorite superhero may be Superman, but the RSA and its members are the real superheroes. Dawn and Mark Langdon wish to express a very special thanks to Kevin Anderson and his team of superheroes at SE Blue in Cleveland for saving the day and bringing happiness to a little superhero named Xavier who is fighting his own health nemesis on a daily basis.
